2nd International Urban Mobility Dialogue
November 13 - November 16850€
After the success of the 1st UMD the next issue in 2019 will again be an important intellectual gathering of cities and leading experts in the field of mobility as well as a special opportunity for your successful professional advancement.
Far beyond of standard event shapes the UMD creates a very special and familiar atmosphere, where governmental representatives, businessmen, academicians and public activists can develop unusual thoughts, discuss controversial opinions and constitute new creative development steps together. Leaving business role-playing behind, acting more as important particles of an urban organism, UMD experts bring in their different views, positions and intentions in a novel way. The UMD enables the various stakeholders in Urban Mobility to achieve new understandings and to create new solution paths for the sustainable future of mobility, and UMD wants and needs each of you for its strategic lab. Next to amazing presentations and descriptions of real life scenarios, the UMD’s new discussion formats and social interactions will pave the ground for 4 days of collaborative thinking and future acting.
If you have any hot topic, that you think should be discussed at the UMD19 or if you have any suggestions or ideas for speakers & partners for the 2019 edition, we would love to hear from you.
Parade of the cities
The UMD kicks off with the “Parade of Cities”, where city representatives share their vision, strategies and challenges. We encourage cities to give an honest assessment of their everyday growing pains and where “smart” talk may not actually equal smart in practice. The Parade provides participants with a common basis for the discussions in the following days. It also offers cities the unique opportunity to crowd-source new ideasand approaches to address their most urgent problems.
Visionary Mobility Keynote
The UMD’s special evening lecture on Visionary Mobility will this year be given by Anthony Townsend who is taking a critical look at the current discourse surrounding Autonomous Vehicles (AV). Anthony recently produced three landmark works on the future of automated vehicles in cities, including a Global Atlas and primer of AVs in Cities. In his keynote, he will share those works and give an exclusive preview of his forthcoming book Ghost Road: The High Stakes of the Driverless Revolution.
On the following mornings the event will start off with inspiring talks and plenary discussions about the “hottest and latest” in urban mobility. You will learn about outstanding concepts and pilots from urban society and mobility providers around the world. This year there will be also introducing regional and topical focuses.
In the afternoons, attendees are invited to participate in the World Café as well as a series of dialogue sessions and workshops. Professional facilitators and session hosts will bring you into discussion with your peers, help you build scenarios and debate problems raised by cities and stakeholders in the room. There will also be the opportunity to present your own problem.
Play in the Demo Space
An important goal of the event is to give you the time and opportunity to broaden your horizons – and have fun! For this reason the event will give the sponsors & partners the opportunity to showcase their innovations in the interactive demo space & for you to try them out! Last year there were drone flights, Segway rides and direct contact to many interesting businesses & institutions during coffee breaks.
